I started writing this book when my tween asked if we could write books at the same time. What began as fun weekly coffee time quickly morphed into something that felt like a real story, a real book. I originally published chapters on Kindle – which was an interesting and frustrating experience topped off by Kindle’s implosion. It was a great way to get early feedback and make sure my writing wasn’t, well, terrible. Since the book was originally a fun project, with no end goal, I didn’t realize that Kindle publication would all-but-prohibit me from getting the book traditionally. While the querying process was dizzying and had a huge learning curve, I did get a couple of contract offers for publication. Unfortunately, none of the offers jived with the experience I was looking for, so I decided to self publish. Thankfully, I have a little experience editing and managing publication (though in the non-fiction space), but I know the learning curve will be just as steep. Thank you for being here!
