Something that’s been rumbling around in my brain lately – what are some ways to monitor book interest that are NOT sales or followers? Said a different way, how can you tell month to month that your marketing will eventually make a difference, even if your sales aren’t skyrocketing (yet)? Here are some metrics I’ve thought of, that checking them on a monthly basis might give you some interesting information (although I don’t think they’re all equally useful):

  • Newsletter subscribers
  • Social media followers
  • Social media collaborations
  • Organic (not pre-discussed) social media tags, images and mentions
  • Views/likes/comments/saves/shares/reposts on social media posts
  • How many people are ‘currently reading’ or ‘want to read’ your book on Goodreads
  • How many people shelved your book on Fable
  • Author website visits or blog views/subscriptions
  • Author followers on Goodreads
  • # of ARC requests through platforms like Voracious Readers or Library Thing
  • Percentage of ARC reviewers leaving reviews
  • Percentage of book buyers leaving reviews

What interesting/unique metrics am I missing out on?
